Squirrels are very adaptable, being able to survive in urban areas by feeding on bird feeders – surplus food is often buried for retrieval later.
Squirrel nests (dreys) are built in trees from twigs and leaves, but if found in properties any material can be used including loft insulation.
Squirrels breed in December/January & May/June, with 1 – 2 litters per year and 1 – 5 young per litter.
Squirrels more often than not will nest in a loft space, this gives them shelter and warmth overhanging trees and climbing plants will aid their entry.
Treatment – Bug Busters can help remove Squirrels
Bug Busters surveys will reveal areas of activity and potential Squirrel access points.
Control and Eradication:Bug Busters use various targeted eradication techniques, professional use whole wheat grain, pasta baits, contact poisons, and humane traps, in most if not all cases humane traps are placed in the loft but MUST be checked by Bug Busters every 24 hours by law and this can incur extra costs. Baiting is widely used and also works well to eradicate the rodents from your home.
Proofing: Rodent access points will be blocked where possible. Materials, such as wire-wool, mesh, and sealants are used to prevent the problem recurring in the foreseeable future.
